The Microbiology Society: fee-free Open Access publishing for University of Leicester authors in 2022
The University of Leicester Library has recently signed up to The Microbiology Society 'Publish and Read' Jisc Collections transitional Agreement' for the period 01 January 2022 to 31 December 2022.
This agreement is designed to provide maximum incentive for microbiology researchers working within the UK HE sector to publish their work in the Society's not-for-profit journals, an "all you can eat" (AYCE) Publish & Read model & there is no bar/cap on numbers of articles submitted nor published within the agreement period.
During the period of this agreement we will receive unlimited access to all paywalled content on their publishing platform, plus unlimited, immediate open access publishing of the Version of Record for all corresponding authors at participating institutions under CC-BY licence terms in the Society’s (four hybrid and two open access) journals.
Reading and publishing eligibility
This means we have access to paywalled content and unlimited open access publishing for:
• International Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology 1466-5034
• Journal of General Virology 1465-2099
• Journal of Medical Microbiology 1473-5644
• Microbiology 1465-2080
Unlimited open access publishing in Society fully open access titles:
• Microbial Genomics 2057-5858
• Access Microbiology 2516-8290
Eligibility for fee-free OA publishing and manuscript submission
- University of Leicester corresponding author eligibility will be checked as part of the submission and publication process using email domain name @leicester.ac.uk
- The corresponding author's affiliation must match the paying institution (Leicester) on the date of acceptance
- Affiliation to a Publish and Read institution as stated in the accepted paper is the decisive parameter for eligibility
- Providing correct affiliation information (including an institutional email address) is the responsibility of corresponding authors
