Library Services during the current Lockdown

  The David Wilson Library building will remain open but with restricted access and reduced opening times from Wednesday 6 January. The building will be open for individual silent study (drop-in and bookable) for students on exempted courses and with an essential requirement to access study space and print book stock, those students classed as vulnerable, and for essential PGR and research activities only. Group study rooms will not be available. When visiting the library you must: Bring your university ID card to gain access Unless exempt, where a face covering at all times when in the building Observe social distancing and only use designated study spaces The revised opening hours of the building will be: Monday – Friday: 10.00am – 4.00pm Saturday and Sunday: 12.00pm – 5.00pm There will be no staffed services but a reception service will be available during the above hours. Accessing journal articles

You have a reference for a journal article - how do you check whether we have access to it? Check Library Search Search for the article title in the library search on the library homepage   If the library has access to the article it should be one of the first search results:    Click on View It   Click on the link next to "Full text available at:" - this will take you to the full text of the article to read or download. I can't find it via Library Search - what next?  Check Google Scholar for an open access version Search for the article on Google Scholar. RefWorks/EndNote and Library Search

How to export results from the Library Search into RefWorks or EndNote Select the items you wish to export by clicking on the star next to the title.  Click 'My Favourites' at the top of the screen.  Tick the boxes next to the items you wish to export and click on the drop-down menu titled 'Select how to save'.  Choose 'Push to RefWorks or 'Push to Export RIS' (for EndNote) and click Go. The items will then be imported into RefWorks or EndNote. Good Practice Tip: We recommend you check the references and edit them to ensure the correct information is in the correct fields.

Document Supply & Inter-Library Loan has Changed!

The way you place a document supply and inter-library loan request has changed: You can find all the information on Making a Document Supply Request at: http://www2.le.ac.uk/library/services/documentsupply/making-requests New Procedure: Step one : Please search the Library's collections before placing a request.  We can only supply items not already in stock. Step two: Open the request form and log in with your IT username and password. Step three: Complete the form as directed, giving as much information as possible. Step four: Click on the Submit Request button. Your request will normally be processed within 24 working hours (Monday - Friday), or first thing on a Monday for requests made over the weekend.

New look Library Search from 11 April 2016

Library Search is the system you use to find books, eBooks, journals and other resources available from the Library.  It is available from the 'All' search option on the Library homepage .  A new, improved Library Search system  'goes live' from Monday 11 April 2016. There will be some limited changes to services while we implement the system. What's better about the new Library Search system? as well as books, eBooks and journals, you will be able to search our research archives, rare books, University exam papers, dissertations and theses all in one go; you can create and save lists of your favourite books and other resources; you can browse the Library shelves virtually; new items added to the Library (including digital resources such as eBooks) will become available for you to use more quickly.
